Walking in Grace

I experienced the blessing of a group of encouraging and prayerful friends the other day. We were telling our “God Stories” and for some reason I was compelled to tell more of my ugly past and the beautifully redeemed story of my life then I usually share. God has a way of doing that. The story was met with love and encouragement to continue to tell others about the many ways in which God has transformed my life. There was no shame or recrimination in the process- just grace and exuberance for how God might use what he has done and how he might use me. I left feeling loved and lighthearted. Forgiveness Withheld

We have all done dumb things that can easily be forgiven and forgotten. There are times though when we do that thing that no matter how sorry we are, the injured party can’t get over. They hold the grudge, they stir up negative reminders, and for whatever reason they can’t get past the injustice to forgive. It is heartbreaking for all parties involved. Walking Forward a Step at a Time

It has been a few years now since I retired from a job that I thought I would never leave. Leaving was stepping into a new world. It has taken me a good while to finally accept that my life has changed from the dream I imagined. There is nothing about where I am today that I ever conceived for myself.

I guess I have been looking for a new place to belong and a new sense of family ever since I retired. It seems every-time I thought I was there, I wasn’t.  The problem is I have been looking for others to accept me, to welcome me into their group, and to make me feel I matter.
