Maggie Marcum is a trained spiritual director and life coach. In addition to her writing, she meets with people seeking to know more about God’s will and plans for their life. She and her clients explore life and how to move toward their true self, as designed by God. It requires prayerful transparency in the context of spiritual growth. As such, the spiritual direction relationship focuses on the integrity, responsibility, and faithfulness of Maggie in the ministry of spiritual direction.
Spiritual Direction at The Lighter Walk is based on the Celtic concept of a “soul friend,” or “anam cara” relationship. In this relationship the director and directee build a circle of trust, a place where the soul is sheltered as together we bring in the light of the divine to awaken God’s power and presence in our lives. As soul friends we seek God’s guidance in bringing our intentions in harmony with God’s intentions as we discern his spiritual path for the directee.
If you would like to receive spiritual direction, please contact Maggie through our contact page. I am available to meet with you in person in the Fairfax, Virginia area or over the phone for monthly sessions. Typically after the first three sessions I charge a fee of $50 to cover my costs, although I am willing to waive that fee as I never want to turn someone away. We can talk more about that once we meet!
Maggie received her spiritual direction training through Anan Cara which equips others for the ministry of spiritual direction so that they may hear and live in response to the voice of God. A spiritual director is one who has been specifically trained to come alongside and listen with another person for the voice of God at work in their life.
